UK size is US size plus 4. EU size is US size plus 32. Australian sizes match UK sizes.
Letter sizes are a rough guide. One brand's medium can be another brand's small, so look at the brand's own chart when you buy.
Italian, French and German sizes differ again. Many shops list them, and the step between sizes is the same two units.
